RTIL G7 SUMMIT Germany June 26 – 28 2022
RAILPOL RTIL
From June 26 to 28, 2022 Germany will be hosting the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau, Bavaria, Germany. Chancellor Olaf Scholz has invited the heads of state and government of the G7 states. They will discuss the major global challenges within the framework of this informal group of leading industrial nations.
The police authorities and intelligence service will develop an accurate threat assessment for the G7 summit. Based on our experience, we expect that various persons and groups will likely use the broad media coverage of a large-scale (political) event, such as the 2022 summit, as a platform to publicly express their views and promote their interests. Compared with former summits (e.g. G 20 summit in Hamburg) mobilization for protests against the G7 summit is proceeding slowly.
Nevertheless, we should be prepared that violent protests might occur during the summit. In addition to (criminal) actions of small groups, we must expect offences by irrational, fanatic individual perpetrators. Assuming that Islamist-terrorist groups and fanatic individual perpetrators continue to select targets that ensure maximum media coverage and large damage, the G7 summit is a worthwhile target for religiously-motivated offenders.
However, there is currently no evidence for a specific threat against the 2022 G7 summit at Schloss Elmau and its participants that goes beyond the existing general threat.
On occasion of the G7 summit, the Federal Police will set up the cross-border exchange of information by police authorities on a real-time basis. The railway police authorities, especially from France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic are kindly requested to participate by submitting corresponding real-time information during the period of time from June 13 until June 28, 2022 to:
