Main tasks of the Railway Police
- to protect life, health, personal freedom, security of people and property in connection with railway transport,
- to uncover crimes committed in the railway district, to search for offenders,
- to secure transports of nuclear materials, special products and equipment, in co-operation with the carrier,
- to ensure safety and smoothness of railway transport, objects and installations around railroad,
- to provide protection of another objects related to the railway transport,
- to participate in detecting threats to railway network,
- to ensure public order and many others.
To fulfil its tasks the Railway Police co-operate with railway carriers, armed forces and security forces and the other organisations and institutions taking part in the safety and security of railways.
Very important is also the co-operation with neighbouring police forces as well as with RAILPOL and COLPOFER.
