BackRail Action Day on Drugs

During the 16th week of April organised the Railway police services in several European countries, under control of RAILPOL a week of action concerning drugs. During several police actions a total of 2750 police officers were deployed in eight countries (UK, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Republic of Slovakia, Germany, Rumania and Belgium). Together they have checked nearly 4500 people and 221 police reports were established:

• 107 for drugs

• 27 for illegal stay

• 11 for prohibeted weapons

• 43 for theft

During this actions were seized:

• 516 grams of cannabis

• 480 grams of heroin

• 862 grams of cocaine

• 15 prohibited weapons

This coordinated action is a great success for RAILPOL. This organization unites within Europe the various police departments responsible for security in railway stations and trains. (www.railpol.eu)
